What is an Open Education Resource? 

Open education resources (OER) are digital materials licensed to give everyone permission to freely use the material. 

As instructional designers, we have access to a variety of OERs. However, not all OERs are created equally. Evaluating OER and digital content plays an essential role in choosing the right digital content. A digital media checklist is a useful tool that helps with evaluating OER relevancy. 

My Digital Media Checklist 

My digital media checklist represents a general evaluation tool for materials found within OERs. This checklist can be applied to all digital media content. It is broken down into four sections

1. Evaluator's information

2. Resource information 

3. Resource evaluation - a checklist of the resource's alignment, accuracy, quality of explanation, product quality, interactivity, accessibility, and  licensing 

4. Evaluator's recommendation and summary
