" A picture tells a thousand words " is a cliche we have all heard before. But, why is this true? Humans are visual creatures because a large percentage of the brain is dedicated to visual processing. Images help to tell stories, help us learn, grab our attention, and explain difficult concepts. Images play a vital role in the way we communicate.
For this project, I created a logo and a flyer to bring awareness and encourage enrollment in the course.
When creating digital documents, all users must be considered, including those with disabilities. To meet digital design standards, I focused on the following
Color and Contrast are the most important elements for meeting the requirement for accessibility. A color palette of black, white, and shades of brown was chosen to ensure that the content was easy to read by all users. According to WCAG guidelines, the minimum contrast ratio for standard text should be 4.5:1. A contrast ratio of 10.24: 1 was used to create the flyer.
Alternative text ( Alt text) aids those with visual impairments to comprehend the content. I have included Alt text for images that are important and marked those that are for decorative purposes.
Alternative version aligns with the UDL multiple means of representation. Learners process and understand the information presented to them differently.
When designing the logo for this project, I wanted an image that encapsulated the meaning of gamified learning. In Canva, I found an image with a graduation cap attached to a game controller. I also wanted to include an element of gaming in the logo. As a result, I decided to place the image in an award. Awards and badges are used in gamification to signal users' accomplishments.
The logo and flyer align directly with my course. The logo is used in all course materials. The flyer will be used as promotional material to bring awareness and urge potential students to enroll in the course.
